It takes 5 years for a cocoa tree to produce it's first cocoa pods. This is why it is important to provide long-term support for farmers. A diseased crop will take years to replace and during this time, the farmer needs a secure income.

Over the past few years there have been reports of many diseased crops in West Africa and so it is little wonder that the price of chocolate has increased dramatically. In our chocolate workshops, we never waste any chocolate. Instead, you get to use all the left over chocolate to make a delicious bark.
